The Denon AH-D5000 Review

by Magneto

Denon AH D5000 Head PhonesThe Denon AH-D5000: Reference Audio Over-Ear Headphones is designed for music lovers who enjoy realistic music. It specially features the use of natural wood Mahogany for its housings, which gives rich acoustic characteristics with a broad natural sound. Mahogany has been a popular material for making drums and guitars because of its great integrity and capability to produce dark, warm tones. Unlike other more common wood types like maple or birch. And because mahogany is light weight, it makes a perfect headphone material.

The AH-D5000 also features an acoustic optimizer which makes the sound more dynamic, provides clear bass, and also keeps balance at low to mid frequency ranges.

The cable is made of high purity OFC cable and an aluminum connector cover with a cloth mesh jacket. Both cables for the L/R channels are of equal length to maintain optimum sound quality and performance.

I have a question: Since these Denon AH-D5000 have huge ear cups, is that a problem if you like to lay down on the couch like me & listen to music & watch TV with them ?

I had a pair of Sony MDR-SA1000 headphones, and when I laid on the couch or on my bed, the ear cups were so large that every time I slightly move my head they make noise. When I move my head they push against the pillow and the headband rubs against the ear cups, making noise.

I wonder will the Denon’s will have that same problem ?
