Volkswagen Golf Twin Drive Concept

The Volkswagen Golf Twin Drive Concept is more promising than the late Golf TDI Hybrid of Volkswagen from Geneva. The Twin Drive proposes to combine a fuel-sipping diesel engine with plug-in hybrid technology, a concept which has not been realized by any one until now. The Twin Drive with an 82 HP electric motor can cover around 30 miles on electric-only mode. And when the batteries have been drained fully, it runs on its 2 liter turbo-diesel which produces 122 HP. It gets a parallel hybrid of 174 HP by combining the two integrated power plants. Another two distinguishing features, the start-stop technology which will shut the engine off when idling in traffic and the regenerative braking which charges batteries, further enhances the fuel efficiency of the Twin Drive. All well said, whether it is just a ‘techno’s showcase’ or will it be made available to ordinary people is something that has to be seen in the coming years.
