TurboChef Speedcook Oven – Microwave Speed, Better Taste

by Magneto

Today’s meals are a compromise between time-saving microwave convenience and the better-tasting, thorough cooking that conventional ovens provide. Veteran oven manufacturer TurboChef may have bridged that gap with their Double Wall Speedcook Oven.

This double-decker oven combines a convection oven on the lower half and a super-charged top oven that employs a microwave element and Airspeed Technology – used in commercial ovens for restaurants – to prepare food much faster.

The design is unique, functional, and stylish. Features like an analog clock, push-button controls, and an intelligent, color LCD display are sleek. Both ovens are self-cleaning, finished in black porcelain interiors with dual halogen lamps and cook in seven unique modes. The Speedcook oven has individual touches as well, like an upper door that comes in stainless steel or six optional colors, an extensive recipe library, and a Sabbath mode for the lower half, used for kosher cooking.

The oven capacity is small, and since it doesn’t use conventional time and temperature settings, matching a recipe for desired results may be a challenge. Early reviews also point to a tendency for uneven cooking. On top of that, the hefty price tag of $7,895 may make this TurboChef worth waiting a while longer for.
