Cadillac CTS-V Puts the Coupe Gloves On
by marczeale
People don’t normally think of Cadillac as capable of supercharged, high-performance engineering, but that’s exactly the feat they’ve accomplished with the 556 hp V-8 2009 CTS-V. Tucked behind the elegant front grille is a serious speed machine, one that could leave dust in the cockpit of a few Corvettes on the way to the dinner party, in fact.
For the last several years, the classic automaker has been busy trying to lose its reputation for stuffy sedans. The CTS-V delivers on that promise, with a 6-speed manual, rear-wheel drive chassis that clocks in at 3.9 seconds from 0 to 60 mph, best in its class.
Starting with an MSRP of $60,000, you get a sport interior with chrome and black piano finishing, MP3, AUX, and USB connectivity, a fancy center console with juicy navigation controls, and Bose 5.1 surround sound stereo with 10 speakers.
If this keeps up, next year’s Caddy may have racing stripes.
