Panasonic DMP-B15K Blu-ray Player: A New Family Favorite

The latest portable media player from Panasonic, the DMP-B15K, represents a quantum leap for Blu-ray, being the first portable that can play the discs on the run. Its 8.9-inch Widescreen LCD has a matte-finish for better visibility, and supports 1024 x 600 resolution. The unit also features a HDMI output that supports connection to an HDTV for true 1080p video at home.

The initial price point of $799 is scaring away some hopeful buyers, but up front it offers a worth solution for jet setters with kids in the back seat. It built-in stand sets up like a digital photo frame, and the battery lasts a convenient two and a half hours, long enough to make it through most movies on a single charge.

The unit also utilizes Viera Cast with a LAN connection to bring Internet capabilities like YouTube videos and VOD content online.
