Roger Borg Creates Conversation Pieces with Light

by marczeale

One artist’s interpretation of neon lamps and eclectic lighting led to the creation of some considerably cool designs. Roger Borg’s series of themed pieces contain influences as diverse as  his native New York City, primary colors, Lite Brite arrays, and crushed milk cartons.

Borg works his central themes into sculpture, paintings, and lamps that grew out of his day job as a designer for custom neon signs. His creative work tends to defy description, with whimsical curves and pop-culture prowess giving fans and customers the urge to turn all the other lights down low to fully appreciate his compositions.

These unique lamps give kitschy character to modern dwellings that incorporate clean lines and a general lack of color. A two or three-dimensional Borg piece, viewed in the privacy of more formal interiors, supplies a subtle message of contemporary culture that guys like Andy Warhol surely would have loved.
