Burmester 069 CD Player

by marczeale

Berlin’s Burmester is the kind of German manufacturer that proves that all audio components are not made equal. Their superior engineering and technology produces equipment worthy of standards set by luxury automakers like Porsche and Bugatti. With thirty years’ worth of design innovations behind them, the company continues to raise the bar for excellence in high-end electronics.

They’re obsessive about vibrations and interference, in all their components. The Burmester 069 CD Player, retailing at $50,000, is an expensive example. In fact, the company created the first belt-driven CD player back in 1991, a feature that is supposed to eliminate subtle variations in disc revolutions during playback. The 069 model continues the high standards that define this concept.

It’s elegant alright, with spiked feet that set into an aluminum base, along with carbon-fiber spring pucks to all but eliminate the distortion and interference that plagues standard players. However, the heart-stopping price tag is reserved for those who have more than enough petty cash to match this player with the other expensive audio pieces you’d need to notice the difference. Find them here.
