Chilewich Sets the Mood with Fabrics

Sandy Chilewich is the New York-based designer behind the firm Chilewich | Sultan LLC, and her experience with fabrics has developed into a distinct brand of fine fabrics for dining tables, wall coverings, and flooring in homes and restaurants.

Sandy discovered a process for woven vinyl, something she calls “plynyl,” early in her career and, in combination with her architect husband Joe Sultan, has applied the technology to a stain-resistant and durable combination of woven fabric with a polyurethane cushion for indoor and outdoor runners, rugs, and floormats that are as versatile as they are fashionable.

Chilewich also maintains divisions for hospitality, wholesale, and contract markets that recognize collections of products for larger institutions.

Their latest creations extend pressed vinyl styling to the tabletop, with coral placemats accented with gold leaf, metallic yarns in contrasting shades of gray and brown, and delicate formal weaves and grid designs in muted colors that accent table settings extremely well. via
