One Piece Table/Seats by Hans De Pelsmacker

by Lotus

Before he began designing furniture, Hans De Pelsmacker worked as an expressive artist and made monumental iron sculptures as he slowly shifted to making smaller sculptures. Soon the size of his projects became even smaller. The HPO1 was his first furniture design, and it was created for a design competition. The HPO1 table/seats is a one of the cleverest designs ever created, the idea was extremely brilliant.

The piece was originally made with sanded aluminum in a workshop, and was immediately acknowledged. The furniture resembled a sculpture that is marvelous in its simplicity. The symmetrical table structure provides a compartment containing three identical surfaces which are the seats and the table. The seats are close together and the furniture is closed on one side which creates an intimate atmosphere. The piece was acknowledged by a German manufacturer and soon the oak version of the table was produced and marketed. To see more information, you may click here.
