Marcel Breuer and his Classic Architecture

by Lotus

Marcel Breuer was originally from Germany, by the time he left Germany to join Gropius in London he was one of the best-known designers in Europe. He developed his reputation upon his invention of tubular steel furniture, one big residence, two apartment houses, some shop interiors, and several competition entries.

Later he join Harvard’s architecture faculty and taught a whole generation of soon-to-be famous architects. He later opened up firms in New York which expanded to even larger offices. He found five young partners in the process of working with a branch in Paris that handled work in seven European countries. He retired in 1976 and passed away on July of 1981, but his work lives on.

Many of his works are classics that have unique features in terms of shape and form. His buildings are grand and sophisticated. The architecture done by Breuer may be quite simple and resemble architectural works of contemporary architecture. For more information on Marcel Breuer please see here.
