Furniture That Tells a Story from Joel Ascalona

Joel Escalona is a Mexican designer, originally from Mexico City, where he graduated from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana – Azcapotzalco in 2008. At the time he was already designing conceptual and award winning products and furniture pieces which would lead to the jump start in his career. Joel says that his designs are a combination between his understanding of design mainstream, inspirational folklore and design thinking. He is constantly driven by storytelling concepts when searching for inspiration, which is a good example of how sometimes fiction can be “more real” than non-fiction. Joel now leads his own studio, while continually creating new and interesting furniture.
