Umarmung Japanese Traditional Sitting Couch

The Umarmung is an original piece of furniture that was originally created for a private residence in Tokyo. It is a floor sitting couch, which is the first of it’s kind. In Asian cultures sitting on the floor is much more common than it is in the West, and this is a marvelous way of combining the traditional Asian way with the modern and western concept of using a couch. This is certainly a very unique design and it would be pretty interesting to see what other kind of pieces are contained within the Tokyo residence that holds this couch.
