Jensen MP6612i review
This product from Jensen has a main strength of support. You don’t even really have to do much with it out of the box in order to get it to support everything from USB and SD inputs to Bluetooth functionality.
While those things are also good, they do come at a price of a bulky overall size. This size can force you to do things differently on your car’s dashboard and of course with all of the functionality of the system included, there was not much else leftover in order to make the actual display look that attractive.
Overall, if you want pure functionality without aesthetic concerns, then this is definitely your stereo. If you care about balancing the two aspects, then you need to look elsewhere.
The Sony MEX-DV2000 retails for $218.00, although you can frequently obtain it on sale for less than $200.00.
As for the good aspects to this unit, they are primarily the fact that the features and options that you have for media playback are many and the sound quality that you receive with appropriate options selected is excellent.
At the same time however, there are features added onto the unit that are really just useless features that have been placed there in order to ramp up the price. The karaoke feature is the perfect example of this, as are many of the sound options which will likely require upgrades to other parts of your car to fully function.
This particular car stereo unit normally retails for $129.99, but because of the length of time it has spent on the market it is quite easy to find units that sell for less than that amount. The lowest prices that you usually find new units at are around $95.00, although used units can be procured for cheaper.
The digital options on this particular stereo are excellent and that is the main strength that it brings to the table. You can even plug an iPod into the stereo and then use stereo functions to browse through the files on the iPod, selecting the one that you like.
This particular product retails for around $139.99 on a normal basis, but it is also usually a product that is placed into sales for prices in the $119.99 to $129.99 range. Used units can even dip as low as $100 from time to time.
This car stereo normally retails for around $249.99, but sale prices can often help you find it for around $224.99 instead. Used units can sell for as low as $200 at times.
The overall design of the unit is probably its best feature, allowing you to slot it into the dashboard of a car and allow it to make everything else around it look even better by its presence. Navigation is a breeze on it as well and the sound quality that you get from it is quite good too.
On the bad side, installation can be somewhat difficult and the HD module that comes with it actually represents about 80% of the suggested retail price. For many people, these two things make the unit an unacceptable purchase.
