Sony Cybershot W300 – Toughest in its Class
by Magneto
The titanium plated, 13 Megapixel Sony Cybershot W300 is an excellent camera for photographers looking for large, highly detailed photographs. The W300 contains a host of highly advanced features such as Face Detection, Smile Shutter, and Intelligent Scene Recognition. Sony claims that its Face Detection software is so advanced, it can distinguish between the face of a child, and that of an adult. The Super SteadyShot optical image stabilization with Dynamic Range optimization allows the photographer a perfect shot, eliminating any human error such a shaky hand. Its 35 to 105mm-equivalent f/2.8-5.8 lens seems relatively normal, yet its 2.7-inch LCD screen and optical viewfinder gives it surprising flexibility in comparison to other cameras in its class. Unlike any other point-and-shoot camera out there, the W300 has a noise reduction setting. Although this noise reduction might hurt small details at low ISO settings, it is ideal when shooting at high sensitivity levels, when the noise level in a picture can get extremely high. The Sony Cybershot W300 is the top in its class of snapshot cameras, yet it comes with one of the largest price tags on the market. So, unless you are looking to take some serious photographs, you might want to consider something slightly less pricey.
