Kenneth Cobonpue studied Industrial Design at the Pratt Institute in New York. Before he graduated, he was an apprentice for a leather and wood workshop near Florence, Italy. In 1994, he studied Furniture Marketing and Production under a scholarship program in Germany. He is now rising to success as one of the icons of contemporary design along with famous designers such as Philippe Stark and Antonio Citterio. He is also well-recognized in Asia and received many awards. His designs are organically unique.
Although he uses a variety of materials for his designs, he is well-known for using organic materials. These materials are from plants which include Abaca, Bamboo, Buri, and Rattan. The materials are often used in traditional furniture that is common in Asia, and Kenneth Cobonpue takes these same materials and uses them create contemporary furniture.
